Plain-language policy

Privacy, without a fog machine.

The app has no account, advertising profile or analytics feed. Your trail data stays on your phone unless you deliberately export it.

Who this policy covers

This policy covers the Enchantments Traverse Planner iPhone app and this product website, operated by MileCheck LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. The mobile app works offline and has no user accounts, MileCheck server, third-party advertising or third-party product analytics.

Location in the app

If you enable location, the app asks iOS for foreground access and uses the coordinate, reported accuracy and timestamp on your device to draw your position along the route. Foreground fixes are not kept as a history unless you separately start Trip Recording.

Background trip recording

Trip Recording is off by default and starts only when you tap Start. The app then asks for background (“Always”) location access and may store precise coordinates, timestamps, accuracy, altitude, speed, heading and mock-location flags while the app is in the background or the screen is locked. Recording continues until you stop it or iOS interrupts it.

Tracks are stored locally and are not uploaded to MileCheck. You can export a track as a GPX file through the iOS share sheet or permanently delete it in the app. A recipient or app you select through the share sheet has its own privacy practices.

What is stored on your device

Display, units, direction and Trail Mode preferences; saved permit details; journal entries; and trip recordings are stored in the app’s local storage. The offline map and trail data ship with the app. The app does not sell this information or send it to MileCheck for advertising or analytics.

Depending on your iPhone and iCloud settings, Apple’s device-backup service may include locally stored app data. Those backups are controlled by Apple and your device settings, not by a MileCheck account.

Local service listings

A paid local-service listing, if shown, is bundled directory content and is clearly labelled “Sponsored.” The app does not report listing views, calls or website taps to the listed business.

This website

This product site has no account form and does not set advertising cookies or run product-usage analytics. A support or launch-update link opens your own email app; the site does not collect the message first. Our hosting and security providers may process ordinary web-request information such as IP address, browser type, requested page and request time to deliver and protect the site. MileCheck does not use that information to build an advertising profile.

Links to Recreation.gov, the Forest Service, Apple, OpenStreetMap or MileCheck’s live-closures page take you to sites with their own privacy practices.

Your choices

  • You may use the offline map without starting Trip Recording.
  • You can change location permission at any time in iOS Settings.
  • You can delete saved permits, journal entries and recorded tracks in the app.
  • You choose whether and where to export a GPX file.
  • Deleting the app removes its locally stored data from the phone, subject to any device backup you control.

The app is a general trail-planning tool and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect children’s personal information.
